Migrants from other countries have the right to obtain a residence permit if they meet the requirements of the Law of Ukraine “On the Legal Status of Foreigners and Stateless Persons”. Usually these are people who are in close or distant family ties with citizens of Ukraine or married to citizens of Ukraine.

But there is one more way to obtain a residence permit. According to the Law of Ukraine "On Immigration", you can become a citizen of Ukraine if you make an investment in the state's economy in foreign convertible currency in the amount not less than 100 000 US dollars. The investment must be made and registered due to the procedure stated by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine.

How should the investment be made?

A foreign investment can be considered as a contribution to the economy of Ukraine and give the right to obtain Ukraine residence permit by investment if it meets certain requirements.

• Firstly, foreign investment can be carried out by creating a new own enterprise or firm in Ukraine, or by investing capital in an existing company;
• Secondly, the investment must be not less than 100 000 US dollars;
• The investment must be in foreign convertible currency. These currencies include: US dollar; Australian, Canadian, Hong Kong, Singapore dollar; Euro; GBP; Swiss frank; Danish, Norwegian and Czech koruna; Polish zloty; Japanese yen CNY; Korean won; precious metals;
• The investment must be officially registered by the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine in accordance stated procedure;
• The amount contributed should be exactly an investment in the economy of Ukraine. This investment should be used for a particular economic activity, receive a profit to Ukrainian state budget or other socio-economic results;
• The invested money must be of legal origin.
